Playing Fest 13 with the Descendents, Less Than Jake, Lifetime & more

I’ll be heading down to Florida with The Unlovables for a set down at FEST 13 this fall. Check out the totally MONUMENTAL lineup for this 3 day festival. Seriously totally amazing, and there are still more bands to be announced. I haven’t been down to FEST since about 2009, so I’m really excited to go as a music fan, let alone to play!!! We will probably play a local show first, so as to not totally suck in FL. So stay tuned for that 😉

#BusbyBrodskyDreams

I’ve spent the last 3 days in a POOL choreographing a music video for the incredible Emilyn Brodsky. Emilyn, myself & 12 bathing beauties recreated a Busby Berkeley-esque vision for her super-catchy tune, Born Again. The Brooklyn-based singer has played with the likes of the Magnetic Fields & the Hold Steady, and her songs have most recently been featured on HBO’s Girls. I’ll post the vid here once it’s released, which should be sometime in October. IT IS GOING TO BE AWESOME.

New Ukulele Army episode with Emilyn Brodsky

I invited the incredible Brooklyn-based ukulele whiz, Emilyn Brodsky, to join me for a new installment of Ukulele Army. We covered the Springsteen’s ultimate underdog anthem “Badlands”, and I think we really uncovered the softer side of The Boss. Check it out!

Emilyn is just great. And she and I will be collaborating on a fantastical underwater music video later this summer, so stay tuned for that. You can check out a track from her fantastic new album “Emilyn Brodsky Eats Her Feelings” here…

Return to Public Access!

The Chris Gethard Show will make its return to public access tonight for the first time since going on hiatus to tape our Comedy Central pilot! Tonight’s episode, entitled “Wax The Human Fish” will feature special guest Sal Vulcano (“Impractical Jokers“) & 90’s heroes Wheatus (of “Teenage Dirtbag” fame). Tune in at 11pm to watch it live, or you can always watch old episodes on Blip TV or YouTube.

Check out Splitsider’s post about our public access homecoming here.

Underwater video for Bernhoft’s “Come Around”

The music video I shot for soul crooner Bernhoft is out, and it is so awesome!!! Check out my mermaid moves, and be sure to watch for the section where Bernhoft holds his breath and lip-syncs for OVER A MINUTE STRAIGHT. Pretty good for a skinny hipster.

My interview on the “Talkin’ TCGS” podcast

I had a great time chatting with Griffin Newman and Riley Soloner, the hosts of “Talkin’ TCGS“, a very meta podcast about “The Chris Gethard Show”. We had a great conversation about how The LLC and I come up with the songs for TCGS, to my background in punk rock & theater & dance. You can stream or download the episode (entitled “Come Take A Ride w/ Hallie Bulleit”, 3/16/14) here on iTunes.

Icy photo shoot with Theresa Ortolani

I spent the coldest, most beautiful day in the Catskills shooting with photographer Theresa Ortolani for her new book, “Bound”. Can’t sneak peak any images from the actual shoot, but suffice to say the setting was one of the most incredible places I have ever been (models and crew all needed crampons and ice climbing gear just to reach the set), and the images should be reeeeallly cool.

San Fran SketchFest

We had a blast at the San Francisco SketchFest this weekend. We played to a sold-out crowd at the Eureka Theatre, where fans came dressed in costume and ready to fah-reak out. Check out this great article recapping the whole escapade.

Holding my breath

Shot an incredible underwater music video today for Norwegian pop artist Bernhoft. Choreographer Cody Schreger put together a team of mermaids to float, dance, and dive around the artist while he lip-synced an entire song while submerged in a giant pool. Thanks to everyone who worked on this shoot– as you can see from my expression, this was pretty much my dream day. I should have been born a fish.
